DINING BY DESIGN
weetu and furniture company ERG International paired up for the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) Dining By Design Chicago Benefit in 2011. weetu’s design objective was not only to create a unique experience, but also to tie the work to DIFFA's mission. By riffing on the ideas of reflection and perspective, reinforcing the power of society’s ever changing perception of AIDS, weetu developed a concept that utilized a canopy of reflective surfaces to create an environment of altered perspectives. A video projection gave diners a glimpse of people preparing themselves for the outside world. The tablescape integrated unorthodox details to enhance the dining experience, including mirrored prison trays and custom assembled clear resin mood lighting globes.
Guests who dined within the environment on the third and final evening of the event were in agreement with the overall positive response to the installation.
