FLATLOT PAVILION

Apomixis was the design for a summer pavilion for the community of Flint, Michigan. Created through the transformation of a parking lot into a hub for exchange, learning, support and culture, Apomixis was to be forged from repurposed advertising tarps and building materials from properties slated for demolition. These materials were to be used to create a canopy structure inspired by the aesthetics of automotive aerodynamics – a nod to flint’s industrial history. The competition guidelines included paraMeters for project budget, square footage and building timeline.

APOMIXIS PAVILION is inspired by formative urban renewal.
