RISK METRICS GROUP (RMG), CORPORATE OFFICES
RMG PHASE I
RMG PHASE I
Risk Metrics Group [RMG], an offshoot of Morgan Stanley, is a software company that has developed algorithms used to calculate risk. The company’s offices, located in an old banking headquarters on Wall Street, required that some historical rooms were left intact, while others could be repurposed. weetu’s designs for the company extrapolated on algorithmic diagrams and combined an idea of cross-cutting views. The open office areas were planned using a flexible Vitra desking system and coordinating conference tables. A minimal palette of materials was used throughout: epoxy flooring, translucent materials, and rubber paint custom-colored to the clients brand.
RMG PHASE II
Risk Metrics II was an expansion of the original RMG space. The floor above was connected via an internal stair. weetu developed a defining feature of the space, a twisting canopy, thought of as a 3 dimensional algorithm. It was fabricated using flexible translucent plastic, doubling as a white board. Ancillary spaces were tucked behind this canopy, with the main open space planned as an open desk area. The desking system was custom-designed by weetu to create hexagonal group areas for the company’s internal design teams.
