Tai Ping Carpets, Xiamen Artisan Workshops
In collaboration with Tai Ping's in-house architect, weetu designed the interior public spaces and offices for the administrative building of the artisanal craftsman campus, in Xiamen China. Working with the traditional materials of weaving and gradients, weetu crafted a space that speaks to these ideas. Reminiscent of the tufting process, the reception area is dominated by a solid element that breaks into a small grid as it moves upward. The upper level consists of open and enclosed office areas, conference rooms, and an auditorium. In working with the idea of a transitional material, weetu developed the surface cladding of the offices as to gradient from wood to transparent surfaces.
