SILLIS @ THE BATTERY GREEN

In the context of New York City’s reactivation of Battery Park, weetu proposed SILLIS to The Battery Conservancy’s effort to create iconic and moveable seating for the space. Inspired by the geometry of New York City’s skyline, weetu designed SILLIS to have a reflective ‘superframe’ that offered modular functionality, storage, environmental interactivity and charging stations. The recycled plastic chairs, stools and blocks that nested within the ‘superframe’ formed visually dynamic counterpoints to the park’s flora.

The proposed designs (chairs, stools, blocks) were envisioned to be created through a rotomold process, offering an economical method of producing seamless, one-piece, lightweight visually appealing shapes that were both cost effective and durable.
